Description of the "Before" Wiring Diagram for Car Dome Light: This wiring diagram illustrates the setup of a car’s dome light system with a positive door switch. The 12V battery is shown on the left, with a positive (+) red wire and a ground (-) black wire connection. The dome light has three terminals: One connects directly to the 12V positive terminal of the battery (shown in red). Another connects to ground. A third terminal links to the door switches, which control the light based on the door's status. Four door switches are connected in parallel. When any door opens, a connection to the positive voltage is established, turning on the dome light. This setup shows a traditional dome light wiring system, where the light immediately turns off when all doors are closed.

Overview

The Car Dome Interior Light Timer is designed to prevent battery drain in older vehicles by automatically turning off the interior (dome) light after a set period when the door is left open. This module replicates a feature commonly found in newer cars, ensuring your battery remains charged.

Features

  • Automatic Shut-Off: The interior light will turn on when the door is opened. If the door remains open for more than 8 minutes, the light will automatically turn off to conserve battery power.
  • Manual Control: If the door is closed before the 8-minute timer elapses, the interior light will turn off immediately.
  • Compatibility: Can be used with LED and incandescent lights up to 10A.
  • Positive Door Switching Signal: This module is designed specifically for vehicles with a positive door switch signal. Refer to the wiring diagram for installation instructions.
