User Guide: Car Dome Interior Light Timer (Battery Drain Prevention) for Positive Door Switches

This module is designed to prevent battery drain by automatically turning off the car's interior dome light after a set delay (up to 8 minutes). It is ideal for older vehicles that lack this feature.

Features:

• Automatic Light Control:
  • When the door is opened, the interior light turns on.
  • If the door remains open for more than 8 minutes, the light will turn off automatically to prevent battery drain.
  • If the door is closed before 8 minutes, the light will turn off immediately.
• Lighting Compatibility:
  • Works with both LED and incandescent lights up to 10A.
• Positive Door Switch Signal:
  • This module is only compatible with cars that use a positive door switching signal.
• LED Indicator:
  • Provides operational feedback with a built-in LED indicator.
• Adjustable Time Delay:
  • The delay is adjustable from 0 to 480 seconds (8 minutes) using the trimmer. Rotate clockwise to increase the time.

Wiring Instructions:

1. Identify the Dome Light Wiring:

   • Inside the dome light assembly, locate three connectors:
     • One connects to the ground.
     • One connects directly to the battery.
     • The third connects to the door switches, which are connected in parallel to the positive.

2. Cut the Door Switch Wire:

   • Cut the wire leading to the door switches.

3. Wiring the Module:

   • Red Wire: Connect to the door switch wire that comes from the dome light (connect to the cut wire).
   • White Wire: Connect to the door switch terminal of the dome light.
   • Black Wire: Connect to negative (-).

4. Safety Precaution:

   • Connect the red wire through a 3A fuse to ensure protection.

Operation:

• Once the module is installed, the dome light will turn on when the door opens.
• If the door remains open for more than the set delay time (up to 8 minutes), the module will turn off the light to prevent battery drain.
• The delay time can be adjusted with the trimmer. Rotate clockwise to increase the time.

Important Notes:

• Ensure proper wiring following the positive door switching signal schematic.
• For safety, always use the 3A fuse on the red wire.
• This module is only designed for positive door switching signals and should not be used with negative door switching systems.
