User Guide: Adjustable Delay Turn Off Car Stereo Timer Switch Relay (1-750 seconds) - 12V 7A
Overview
This timer relay module is designed to delay the turn-off of a car stereo, allowing it to remain on for a preset time (1 to 750 seconds) after the ignition is turned off. It’s ideal for keeping the stereo on while parked, with immediate shutdown if the driver’s door is opened.
Specifications:
- Power Supply: 12V DC with protection against reverse polarity
- Output: Direct 12V, 7A (max 84W); for higher loads, use a separate relay
- Adjustable Delay: 1 to 750 seconds, set using a trimmer
- Power Consumption: None in standby mode (open relay)
Wiring Instructions:
- Red Wire: Connect to the activation input, providing 12V+ when the ignition is on.
- Black Wire: Connect to 12V negative (-).
- Output: Connect the stereo to the module’s 12V output. If the stereo’s power exceeds 7A, use an external relay to avoid damage.
Operating Principle:
Activation:
- When the ignition key is turned on, 12V is supplied to the activation input (red wire), closing the relay. The stereo turns on and operates normally.
Countdown on Ignition Off:
- When the ignition is turned off, the timer begins its countdown based on the set delay (1-750 seconds). The stereo continues to play for the set delay duration.
Immediate Shutoff:
- If the driver’s door is opened during the countdown, the stereo turns off immediately, ending the countdown.
Reactivation:
- When the ignition is turned on again, the cycle repeats, keeping the stereo powered until either the delay ends or the driver’s door is opened.
Important Notes:
- For stereos with power consumption over 7A (84W), use an external high-power relay at the output to prevent damage to the timer module.
This delay-off timer switch relay is a versatile addition for car audio systems, providing convenience with extended power and automatic shutoff features.
